Alex, AKA Diceman624, was the first to complete the Dry Practice Challenge and he did a fantastic job writing up an After Action Review for the community. We’re reposting it to the main blog today so you can learn alongside him.
On July 20th, 2019, I attended GoRuck’s Active Shooter Intervention training course, as well as a night fire. I took away a lot of lessons from this one, including a preference for fiber optic sights on my pistols over tritium night sights, as well as the importance of good weapon light usage.
On April 27th, 2019, I competed in the NRA’s reborn America’s Rifle Challenge at the Peacemaker National Training Center. In all, it was a very fun match and a great introduction to competitive action shooting. But I’m not without a few complaints along the way.
Fellow blogger Sunshine Shooter competed in Desert Brutality 2019, a match that emphasizes physical toughness of you and your equipment.
In this post, you’ll get a sense of what Desert Brutality is all about as an event, and some tips for competing in future iterations.

It also taught me the value of a team.
While researching places to download fitness programs, I came across the Mountain Tactical Institute (MTI), run by Rob Shaul. Waylon is a 7-week program focusing on work capacity, core strength, endurance, and strength.
Most training courses offered to civilians focus on quickly and accurately running a carbine.
This course is all about small unit tactics, and it’s amazing.
