This week I sat down again with Ilya, the Dark Lord of Optics, to answer some lingering questions I’ve got about prism optics. I wanted to understand how they work relative to traditional rifle scopes, and some of the tradeoffs required when designing them. During the conversation, we also wandered over how rifle scopes work in general, reticle color selection, durability, engineering tradeoffs, and more. I’m also posting the audio-only version of this as well.
In this session of Marksman Live, I talked with Josh Shaw of Green Ops Inc about handgun skills. Josh is a USPSA Grand Master and teaches courses for Green ops in the Northern Virginia Area. We cover the importance of handgun skills, misconceptions, gear selection, and a training plan to propel your success.
I dislike the whole New Year’s resolution ritual, but that doesn’t mean I don’t do some self evaluation and pick some new things to focus on. In this episode, Allison and I discuss my primary focus areas for 2022, how they will affect the site, and why you should probably consider focusing on these things too.
In session 006 of Marksman Live, I’m talking with Dr. Christopher Larsen of the One Shepherd Leadership Institute. We tackle the history of civilian warrior training as well as try to establish a baseline level of capability for all citizens to strive for.
In session 005 of Marksman Live, Allison and I go through the mistakes I made in introducing her to shooting, and what lessons we can share with others about doing it better. There’s also the customary Q&A where we go on tangents about poor marketing to women and the zombie apocalypse.
In Marksman Live session 004, I talked with Brent0331 all about various load carriage methods. Brent is a US Marine with a popular YouTube channel teaching basic infantry tactics, and the conversation wandered over a lot of topics. Enjoy!
In session 003, Allison and I talk about the underlying philosophy of The Everyday Marksman and why I believe in teaching tactical skills for all citizens is an important goal.
In Marksman Live session 002, I talked with Ilya Koshkin (the Dark Lord of Optics) and Jeff Gurwitch on the topic of BDC reticles versus MRAD reticles for general purpose rifles. We also had a Q&A portion with the audience to cover a variety of questions that came up throughout the talk.
